Munising Michigan Waterfalls
There are many varied and interesting waterfalls in the vicinity of the town of
Munising Michigan and around Alger County.
All of these Munising waterfalls are very beautiful; however, they are especially appealing during the spring when melting snow and frequent rain increases their water volume.
This page will help direct you to these waterfalls, show you their beauty and will give you some idea of what you will encounter while visiting them. Click on the Picture to see a larger view.

Located one mile south of Munising where Highway M-94 meets M-28. This waterfall cascades down 30 feet of rock and is easily seen along the east side of Highway M-28.
Located within the Pictured Rocks National Lake shore, about 18 miles East on H-58, then North towards the Chapel Beach.
This privately owned waterfall, located in southeast Munising, has a 20 foot free fall drop into a pool below. A natural shaped amphitheater. There is also a trout pond where visitors can feed rainbow trout.
This Pictured Rocks National Lake shore waterfall is located in northeast Munising across from the city hospital. A short 1/2 mile scenic hike will take you from the visitor's station along the creek valley, and over footbridges either to the base of the 50 foot waterfall to the top. Winter's cold weather often transforms this waterfall into a spectacular column of ice.
Located about 1.5 miles south of Munising on Highway M-94. A short trail will lead you up the Wagner Creek Valley, to the falls. These falls are actually a series of small falls and cascades that stretch for about 100 feet. The short hike here, combined with the picturesque beauty of these falls, makes this a perfect stretching place for the road weary traveler.
Located just off the Forest Lake Road, either 8 miles south of AuTrain or 1/10 mile north of M-94. These falls consist of a series of small steps and cascades that drop about 50 feet within a 200 foot stretch. The beauty here lies not only in the falls, but also in the rapids below the falls. The parking lot is located within sound distance, and less than 100 yards, from the roaring water.
Located within the Pictured Rocks National Lake shore, about 3.5 miles north of H-58, on H-13 towards the Miners Castle. A foot trail will direct you 1 mile east to the head of Miners Basin. From here you can enjoy the breathtaking view that looks out over Lake Superior and over the falls flowing down into the basin.
Located on the south side of M-28, at the east side of Lake Superior's AuTrain Bay. Travelers along M-28 can easily see the 20 foot waterfall from the highway. Wayside Park, located directly across the highway from the falls provides safe and easy parking for those who would like to stop and get a picture.

Located on the Laughing Whitefish River, 2 1/2 miles northeast of Sundell. It has a spectacular 100 foot drop; plus its deep gorge and layered limestone walls make it one of the most beautiful in Alger County. There is a 20 minute walk into the falls.
