Munising Bay
In the middle of Munising Bay, we will be as far from land as the trip will take us, including down to the bottom of the bay, which right here, we are in 200 feet of very cold Lake Superior water.
Photo Opportunities Galore!
Once we get out to the Rock formations, we will move close enough so that you are able to take pictures or videos of the beautiful formations, some of which rise over 200 feet. |
Nature's Sculpture by
Wind & Water
Each Formation takes on a shape of its own that reminds us of different figures we have seen in our lives. There is never a dull moment during this great boat tour! |
Indian Head
Here we see the famous "Indian Head" rock formation. This is just one of the many formations that the boat cruise will highlight along the way. |
The formations at Pictured Rocks National Lakesore are always changing due to the weather, ice, water and wind.
Miners Castle
And here you see one of the more popular rock formations, Miners Castle, the only formation that can be accessed by vehicles.
The photo on the left is a representation of Miners Castle after the northeast turret of the rock formation collasped due to natural erosion.
Great Caverns
When we have reached the end of these formations, we will, depending on the wave conditions pull up close to the Rocks, sometimes even entering a small cavern, before turning around to head back to the Dock.
Up-close Views
Even on the way back, we will stay close to the rocks, in case you missed that camera shot the first time around.
Skill & Experience
The Captain keeps an ever watchful eye out, should there be any other boats, kayakers or canoers in trouble. On Lake Superior, it is important to respect mother nature and keep out of the elements, or at least not get caught too far away from a safe haven, should the weather change. Radar keeps our Captain up to date on any incoming storms long before they hit. |
The Return
As we return to the Dock, please remain seated until the boat is secured, and the exits opened up.
